Medieval Lives
If you've any interest in history or knowledge or fun things, I highly recommend renting Medieval Lives. It's a series by Terry Jones (of Monty Python fame) about the types of people who lived in Medieval times. There are eight episodes detailing the lives of peasants, monks, damsels, knights, etc. I enjoyed the way he started episodes outlining what we think we know, or the stereotypes we've come to believe, and then showing how those perceptions aren't really supported by evidence. The stories of Robin Hood, damsels in distress, and kings named Richard are all scrutinized in this series in a humorous and informative manner. Plus, there's a bonus episode about the gladiators. Hooray for learnin'!

You heard it here first
Sarah, mom of the triplings, just forwarded me a link to a CNN article entitled
"Gay marriages worth $684 million." I'm very pleased to know that my theory is proving to be correct. Go California!

100 things, part deux
- I like the idea of writing short stories and novels, but I rarely get very far. Like many people, I have always narrated the events that happen around me as though I were writing them down. While riding my bicycle to work or spacing out in the shower, I daydream the beginnings of stories. But like nighttime dreams, the story ideas rarely stay with me and are seldom written down for preservation. I've decided to take a writing class this summer and get some more data on whether I actually want to be a writer, or if I'm just good at amusing myself with stories. I'm excited and a little nervous to see how it will turn out.
- The persimmon tree I planted a month or so ago is busy making leaves. I'm very pleased to see this progress and cannot wait to try out my grandma's cookie recipe with home-grown persimmons. (Dad and assorted uncles: it will be awhile before the tree is fruiting, so don't get too excited just yet).
- I love that "fruiting" is a verb.
