OK, so I need a new project like I need a hole in my head, but at least this one gets me writing again.
I've been thinking a lot lately about how to give characters their own unique voices. It's boring when all my characters sound like me. So I created a playground to try out different things in the form of a fictional group blog. It's called The Regulars, and it is off to a slow start. But a few friends will create their own characters, and hopefully it will build some momentum.
The primary goal is for writers to have a place to play. Secondarily, I hope it will be enjoyable for others to read, and give readers a chance to comment and interact with fictional characters. Mostly, it feels good to set an idea loose into the wild with no concrete plan for where it will lead. It could be disastrous, bland, charming, bold, anger-inducing, cute, or boring as all hell. It could be all of those things and still be great fun.
